Basic Macros in World of Warcraft by Chan Joon
These shortcuts make doing pretty much anything as simple as a few characters of text. To take on an opposing player, the "/dual player name" command makes the process as easy as knowing your opponent's name. But, there are so many other things you can do with macros in World of Warcraft. Knowing all of these lightning fast commands can make battling infinitely easier. Instead of frantically spinning your mouse and clicking away, you can merely type in what you want to do. Let's take a look at some of the more useful macros World of Warcraft offers you:
The format of macros is always the same with a forward slash, the command, and then the subject of that command.
/assist name - Here you can easily help a teammate without searching the battle field for them when they call for help. /follow - This is an easy command that requests a follow from a character or a teammate. /invite name - Say you want someone to come along on a quest. A quick invite command takes care of that./leave name - Now, say you want to leave that very same person and their party. Well, leave them in a flash with /leave./ignore name - If someone's messages are particularly obnoxious, use this easy to remember command to ignore their messages.
Use these simple commands for all of your essential messaging needs:
/party message - This will send a text message only to everyone currently in your party/reply message - This will only reply to a message directed directly at you in the game. /say - This will open a chat box to say something aloud for everyone within range to see.
There are dozens more macros that you can find in any guide book or with the help of your fellow party members and game players. However, for those goof-offs out there, there are also dozens of macros programmed into the game to give you a good chuckle. Check out some of these great action macros that will put your character through interesting motions:
/applaud/burp/cry/dance/sleep/yawn
there are many, many more (some of which are a little less family friendly). Using any of these macros is as simple as opening the Macros menu in your main menu panel and activating macros. The simple speech commands and battle commands are always active, but there are dozens of others you can make active to have a little more fun with your game.
